Farewell to Daniel Suddaby

Daniel Suddaby has stepped down from his role as Executive Director of the GTA, after three years in post.

The Board appreciates the contribution Daniel has made to the GTA and in advancing improvements to the management of global tuna fisheries.

During his tenure, Daniel has helped transform the GTA into a high‑performing global team. He expanded operational capacity, significantly strengthened the organisation’s funding base, and broadened the GTA’s reach and scope.

Daniel also led the development of the current five‑year strategy and introduced systems to support impact-focused engagement, such as the new performance dashboard, to help enhance GTAs impact.

More recently Daniel spearheaded the GTAs effective advocacy campaign in the Western Central Pacific Fisheries Commission. This coordinated GTA partner engagement to help deliver a key management improvement in one of the world’s largest tuna fishing regions. We wish Daniel well in his next endeavours.

Aoife Martin, Chair of the GTA Board, will cover Executive Director responsibilities on an interim basis while the Board recruits a successor.
